Your Facebook Status Could Ruin Your Dream Job

Almost all of us uses social media sites like Twitter and specifically Facebook. We uses them to announce stuffs and sometimes to vent out. There are also things that we upload like videos and pictures of us having fun that we want to show the world how cool we are. Remember the time when you were tag by your relatives on how drunk you are? And then later on, taking your time to remove those crazy pictures out of your profile? Well, the problem is, being a social animal we are, there will be hundreds of people that will link us some pictures of how lush, lazy and perve we are by those pictures about alcohol, smokes and weeds that most of us takes! And it also turns out that our future company, or should we say, our future boss would be looking into our Facbook status specially those time of late of night.

A study shows that almost 40% of employers look into the social media accounts of their applicants, and about 50% of those employers have honed in on information seeking that would disqualify a job applicant. From that, it also shows that organization may use Facebook to weed out unfit candidates by looking up what they posts, specifically what they are doing and the activities they tend to do. Well don't forget about those status updates that bad-mouths one's current employers.

Who even wants an employee who bad moths you right? Surely I don't want to. Future employers will take note if they catch you talking bad about your current job or any co-workers. There are also some reports that employers today are tapping the use of social medias to monitor their future employee on what they do after their job is over. But, it also shows that Facebook isn't a reliable source on how we see a person's ability and skill, or to screen them since most of the posts isn't about their performance. But still, from that information enough, I could say that we all should be careful on what we post on our status updates.

Don't let people snooping became the reason you don't get hired. Take your time to un-tag yourself in any compromising photos now and follow this easy and simple tips to keep yourself clean.

1.) Remove the Habit of Venting a Work-Related Rants

This kind of habit is unprofessional and it also makes you look like a bad person in the eyes of the people who doesn't know you. You don't need to vent out in writing form. You can just tell a friend over, which is the most good way to tell your status.

2.) Don't Post while Drinking

We know that we are having fun and all the booze are good and all, but, we don't need to brag about an awesome bar or an awesome party that we are in. Taking photos are good but, if you want to have a clean profile, take off the bottle first before taking a picture with your friends. This will make you a little bit out of the "compromising" stuff.

3.) Set Up Your Timeline and Tagging Settings

Even if you are not on your interview process, disable automatic tagging of photos and status updates of your friends. You may not be uploading some photos but your friends do! Secure up your posts and what your friends will post. This will be the time that you could at least control what are the things that appear on your timeline.
