Coming into a decision: A New Facebook Fan Page

I had days of thinking of making a new facebook fan page since the old one isn't as flexible as I thought it should be. Since I am now expanding my reach not only as a blogger but also as a writer, I need a page that will put all my work into one. Something that will tell me that it’s me or can be seen as me when people remember the name. Of course, since I made a new one, I need to market myself even better more than before so that I could increase my fans and to effectively market my works.

So I was thinking every night on what kind of name that I am going to put into it since it’s going to be official and it’s going to be where I could direct my posts besides my other social media accounts.

While thinking, I made sure that the name could be easily remembered by other people, something that is catchy and with a character to bring out the ‘me’ factor in it. So what I did is that I asked different people on each time that I thought of something new about it. It came from a corny one into a kind of catchy but not easily remembered. And that could be bad for a marketing strategy and SEO for my blog and for my future projects.

I also learned something while reading articles on how to name your own Facebook page or what they call a vanity page for personal use.

1.) Keep It Timeless

Oh sure, you have a name that is trendy for now, but will it still be in trend for the next year? Just much like fashion, trendy names go in and out fast. Think something that will be staying for a long duration. For example, putting your name on it. It could be easily remembered by other people and more importantly, they can search your page using your name.

2.) Keep it Short and Simple

You don’t want to confuse your future fans do you? Of course you don’t. Make it really short so that it could be remembered easily, and keep it simple by allowing people to pronounce it easily. By doing that, you could just gain organic followers. I also found some pages that has a short and simple name that garners a lot of fans.

Well that is the basic start of creating a Facebook fan page for your own or for your business. Of course, after creating one and optimizing it, there are more things you need to do to make it earn fans. This is what I found out:

1.) Update Your Readers

Tell your readers that you made a fan page for them to follow. You can either add it to every social media account you have or at the author’s note if you have a newly published chapter of your story or book. You can also add it at your profile so that your fans can see it. There is numerous ways for them to follow you. You can add links at your signature on the forums that you have joined or optimize it on your blogs.

2.) Share it to your Social Media Accounts

Remember that you can use hashtags? Though there are many people who use them, try not to spam your followers with all those hashtags. Remember, they followed you because of what you have, not because you create too many hashtags at one post. Use your current and stable social media accounts so that you could also notify your current followers about your new page.

Well there you have it. What I have is just the basics, but those basics will be helpful. Remember, we start small, so if you are starting out, you better take this given points into consideration.
