There is no such thing as an early preparation or
over-preparation when your financial well-being is at stake. One of the wisest
moves you can do is your performance review file. What is it for? To provide
proof of your achievements and to refresh your memory when it’s time for your
performance review. Here is how to get it right:
1. Start a File
If you never kept a performance review file, do so now.
Go over your calendar of activities to recall what you have accomplished and
jot it down.
2. Update your
file regularly
Keep a folder of memos, lists of finished projects and,
additional tasks assumed and other documentation of good performances. Be sure
to enter your accomplishments judiciously throughout the year.
3. Refer to This
File
When discussing your pay increase, cite examples of your
accomplishments that proves that you are worthy to the company, not just your
experience.
And if not for anything else, documenting your
accomplishments also serves to raise your confidence when you are feeling down.
You’ll get an instant lift from reviewing congratulations, Thank you notes,
well-done messages, and other pat on the back moments that have come your way at
work.
