With the current trend of online and network gaming rising on different platforms especially on smart phones, there really is no doubt that I am a player: to be exact, I love to play and especially within my work hours at our local school organizations or during school hours and doing homework and projects. While playing, I do sure enjoy what I am doing and it actually makes me more productive if not, creative!I see my duties at responsibilities as play rather than looking at it as a serious job. To see a simple definition of play, it is sometimes a wasteful thing which consumes a lot of time and burns a lot of energy, can cost a lot of money, and can be dangerous when not put into a proper place. I guess, it sounds too negative but when we look it in a brighter angle, if playing didn't have a major benefits biologically, it would have faded out a long time ago or in the near future.
Most of us knows that there are two main reason why humans play: first, it allows us to practice skills that we will need in a safe environment where we can fail with few consequences, so we can apply those skills when they are really needed. It shows that most mammals in the wild whose kids who play have a much higher survival rate than those who don't.
When we play, it actually makes our brain grow. In fact, studies shows about mammals that a nearly shows an identical curves between brain size and playfulness during childhood. Some research also shows that kids who play video games have a 10- 20 percent higher cognitive ability than those who don't, which proves to be right since I knew people who plays a lot of video games yet they have better memory and better understanding reasoning.Play is often described as a time when we feel most alive, yet we often take it for granted and may completely forget about it. But play isn't a luxury—it's a necessity. Play is as important to our physical and mental health as it acts as an exercise for our brain and our body. So playing actually turns negative vibes into something than we can be creative and productive.
Despite the power of play, somewhere between childhood and adulthood, many of us stop playing- usually when entering college or later years of high school. We exchange play for work and responsibilities. When we do have some leisure time, we're more likely to zone out in front of the TV or computer than to engage in creative, brain-stimulating play. But today's pleasure of play, most of teenagers or adults focus on having booze and smokes rather than physical activities or virtual games that could help us and that may prove to be dangerous for our health!
Well, if you are asking how can we play during our work, I could actually say that it depends on the capacity of the person who wants to play and work at the same time. I could also say that having to start a habit of this can be hard at first and could be quiet frustrating. Personally, I have a hard time dealing with it at our local school organization.
But, if you really want to know, studies shows that there are ways on how we can enter the state of playing while working. The first condition is be confident to fail at times, so that you can also learn from that mistakes. You will also need to invest a lot of your time to work on your own style and technique on discovering your own play or game during your work hours.
It is also important to have a big sense of humor, which also free us from the dark thinking of how horrid our work is. And for the last thing to have is to have a motivation to go on. Sometimes, when a a kid is getting tired of playing, all he needs to have is the motivation of his playmates to keep and continue on playing.
On what I observe and see and hear about the majority of people working as an employee, I can say that there are about 60% to 80% who are unhappy with their work and that is disturbing or to make it lightly, crazy. There are no love and passion and even enjoyment with what we are doing on our daily routine. Sometimes, play can be a big role to love what we are working with and enjoy the rest of the day for us to be more productive and be creative.
My thought is, if I, a student and an officer working for free at our local school organization, can put play and work together and enjoy what I am doing, then for sure, you can also do it.
