Do you Have a Clean or Messy Desk?

Every time I arrive at work or even at my own room, I tend to clean my desk because it's what makes me more comfortable. But when I am in the mood to study, my clean desk became so messy as if there was a hurricane that entered the rooms. Papers piled up in different corners of my room. And sometimes, I even stepped on them when it's time to sleep. And when tomorrow comes, I clean them all up again.

As for my desk at my workspace, I want everything in order and clean because I can find my files a lot easier in that way.

You know what they said that how you keep your desk could impact the choices you make. For example, last year, a clean desk and workspace portray a healthy and tidy personality of the people who are working with it and they could be more generous. That is because a tidy environment influences people to do what is expected of them.

But a messy desk wasn't that really bad you know, as I read on different articles and observing how to fare the new officers at the room, I also found out that they are more creative and would play in different colors. They tend to work more on different patterns that I usually can't predict their next move!

But, there are just times that being messy has also its disadvantages. For the case of the new employees, they tend to lose interest in work they have or even would have a hard time to find the things they need like pens or other kinds of letters.

If in case that you are too messy that you are loosing things or couldn't find the papers that are important, there are still things that you could do. Or, if you want to be a little messy, there are still some points to consider so that you would not suffer any shock from a sudden mess in your workspace.

1.) Remove the Outdated Papers

Do you still have the documented memos five years past? Or even the note that you finished documenting and stocked in a proper place of your files? You could at least put a copy of those documents and papers on your archives so that you would not forget important things like that or even a guide for that kind of papers. But if they are too many and prove to be useless, you could at least pile up those paper and sell them off in shops that recycle paper and make an extra money for yourself!

Just don't forget to do that on a regular basis.

2.) Keep What Really is Important

If there are things that you really don't need, it is good to keep them away or better yet, junk them. But if you are uncertain if it that has a certain use for you in a long term, then just keep them somewhere that will not be a bother when you work. You could box them in and just let it there until you use it again.

3.) Make Things for You Simple

If you don't need some pull in/out box, then don't try having one if you are having a hard time to keep your things organized there. It will just make your workspace more limited than it should be. A good vertical step file holder can help you fix that. It saves up space and also will help you see better on what document is there than having to pull the box just to see if you got the correct paper.

There really are no issue whether a person works in a messy workplace or in a neat one. As long as they can still be productive and can work in their most comfort zone. Just make sure that you are not making any trouble for the people besides your desk and don't forget to clean up once in a while or just organize your table so that you can still have more creativity and peace with you while you work.
